Rona O’Brien - National Director of Business Operations

Rona O'Brien is the National Director of Business Operations for the De Broc School of Business. Rona has many years’ experience at a senior level in higher education at business schools in the UK and abroad. She also has extensive professional involvement in accounting and finance, and has worked commercially as a senior accountant in the retail – Harvey Nichols and entertainment sector – Paramount and Universal.

In particular, Rona is very interested in the student experience with regard to employability, and has been involved in the development of learning and teaching around this subject. She believes student engagement in higher education will serve them well for the rest of their lives, as it is important to work hard as well as participating in voluntary work and student societies.

Ioannis Dermitzakis - Senior Lecturer

Ioannis has over 20 years of management experience, having worked for international organisations around the world, including Greece, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Italy and Estonia. He has a reputation for raising professional standards and introducing best practice to improve all round performance, using a practical approach to empower students to achieve their goals.

Ioannis holds undergraduate qualifications in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, and an MBA (Open). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds professional memberships with the Chartered Management Institute (CMgrMCMI), and Institute of Leadership and Management (MInstLM). His research interests are in supply chain risk, SMEs and operations management. He is a sports fanatic and in his spare time mentors young entrepreneurs.

Dr Sara Fisher - Visiting Lecturer

Sara focuses on management and marketing, and has experience in developing business, strategy and marketing plans for entrepreneurs, start-ups, and SMEs. She uses her experience to create dynamic, interactive, and varied workshops, using different platforms to communicate with students. Most importantly, she focuses on making theory relatable.

Sara is proficient in dealing with student issues and uses this knowledge to improve services and support across the business school. Her research areas include entrepreneurship, gender studies, strategic planning, innovation, and marketing.

Cormac Austin - Online Programmes

International Marketing Leadership; Managing Organisational Reputation.

Cormac Austin is a Senior Lecturer at lnterActive, teaching courses in Marketing and Public Relations.

With over 18 years of experience in the marketing communications industry, Cormac has worked in tourism, publishing, public relations, and education. Aside from teaching at lnterActive, he also offers marketing consultancy services to small businesses in the UK and Ireland.

Cormac holds a diploma in marketing from the Marketing Institute of Ireland, a master's degree in marketing with distinction from the University of Ulster, and is a law graduate of Queen's University in Belfast.

Cormac has previously worked as an Assignment Tutor with Oxford College of Marketing and as an Associate Lecturer at Belfast Metropolitan College.

Alexandra Gray - Online Programmes

HR Management in Context; Coaching and Mentoring; Business Performance Management; Leadership and Management Development; Organisation Design and Development; Performance Management and Reward; Leading, Managing and Developing People; Managing Employment Relations.

Alexandra Gray is a Senior Lecturer at InterActive. Alexandra specialises in designing and delivering corporate training programmes to develop professional and personal skills. This includes topics such as organisational behaviour and international human resource management. She has developed programmes that cover everything from problem identification and training needs analysis to delivery and post programme evaluation. She adapts existing theoretical constructs on leadership, change management and organisational culture into practical leadership and management skills.

This means she is conversant with new and emerging practices in HR and organisational development, and has developed a range of new pedagogical skills. Alexandra previously lectured in Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour & Development at Leeds University Business School and the University of Leeds School of Textile Industries.

Julian Hoseason - Online Programmes

Global Business Strategy and Leadership.

Julian Hoseason is our programme leader for Management and Leadership. Some of the courses Julian teaches include Ethical Strategic Leadership, Operations Management, Strategic Management and Leadership, and Strategic Technology Management.

Julian has carried out research in areas such as revenue management and environmental management, and uses his strong academic management experience to provide consultancy services in curriculum design and innovation.

Prior to joining lnterActive, Julian served as the Dean of the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland. He also spent two decades at the City College of Norwich and European University Business School, where he supervised undergraduate and MBA dissertations. He has more than 35 years of experience as a leading professional in the travel and tourism industry.

Julian holds an MPhil from Oxford Brooks University in the UK.

Peter Jansen - Online Programmes

Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility.

Peter Jansen plans, coordinates, and develops academic content for lnterActive's MSc in Marketing programme. He is a seasoned senior lecturer with a wealth of international business experience.

Peter worked as a marketing and strategy consultant for 10 years, before going on to become the general manager of a media company in Central & Eastern Europe. He has also spent time offering consulting services to a wealth of top-tier national and multinational companies.

Peter currently serves as an independent director for one of the largest natural gas producers in Europe. An accomplished entrepreneur, he is also the founder of sever­al companies in the advertising and communications industry, with a focus on strategy consultancy and online marketing.

Karina Kizhner - Online Programmes

Management of Business Operations; International Emerging Trends; Research Methods and Professional Development.

Karina Kizhner's career in Higher Education spans over eight years. During this time, Karina has worked with a number of prominent Universities, including the University of Bradford, University of Central Lancashire and University of Lincoln and acquired an excellent understanding of the Quality Framework of Higher Education in the UK. As a Senior Programme Leader for the DeBroc Portfolio at Interactive, she is working closely with DeBroc and the University of Law, to ensure that the student experience on these programmes is second to none.

In her previous role, as Head of Studies at the London School of Business and Finance, she lined managed 25 people, both academic and administrative and was responsible for the successful development of Postgraduate and Undergraduate Law programmes.

Karina holds a Masters from the London School of Economics (LSE) and completed a Certificate in the Management of Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Goldsmiths' University of London. She has travelled extensively for her work and taught in Russia, France and Georgia, as well as the UK. Her academic interests include commercial law, public law and international politics.

Jeremy Shulman - Online Programmes

Developing Skills for Business.

Jeremy Shulman has 10 years of experience as a former high school teacher in the United States, teaching writing, grammar and literature at a top secondary institution in the country. There, he occupied a seat on the executive committee of the Briarcliff Teachers' Association and advised a number of student-run organisations. Jeremy holds a master's degree in education from New York City's Lehman College.

Most recently, Jeremy was a Programme Leader with lnterActive, moderating modules and creating original content in a variety of subject areas. In his current role as Learning Resources Manager, Jeremy assists students and faculty in procuring essential resources and developing and managing vital student programmes like the study centre and student career centre. Further, Jeremy is heavily involved in the oversight of plagiarism issues as faculty manager of the Unfair Practises Committee and works on a variety of other initiatives to improve the student experience.

Martin Lukavec - Online Programmes

Martin Lukavec is an InterActive Programme Leader of finance and economics modules, with emphasis on quantitative analysis and theoretical economics.

Martin holds a master’s degree in economics and management from Czech Technical University and is currently completing his PhD in Urban Economics at University of Economics Prague.

Areas of his research include inequality in cities, property prices and economic implications of urban planning.

Prior to joining InterActive, Martin worked as an asset manager for Cushman & Wakefield.
