Pre-Sessional English Programme at London Bloomsbury
We are now offering a pre-sessional English course to our London Bloomsbury students who need to improve their English skills in order to meet the IELTS requirements for entry onto our postgraduate courses. See below for further information.
The programme offers you a thorough grounding in business, and the more specialist concepts and applications of marketing management. You will be exposed to the relational nature of marketing and how strategic marketing planning and communications can aid the success of an international organisation. You can choose to study the course online or face-to-face.
Students will refine your decision making and analytical skills, as well as gaining valuable experience in elements of research, presentation, teamwork and problem solving, increasing your value in a competitive job market.
With emphasis on career progression and an interactive learning experience, studying the MSc in International Marketing will leave you thoroughly prepared for the workplace. We have also successfully accredited our London Bloomsbury and online Masters degree programme with a professionally-recognised CMI qualification.

How will you learn?
On campus study
The programme is delivered in an interactive way with a real-world focus, and learning takes places both in and outside the classroom environment. Face-to-face learning is supported by online resources, including the Financial Times, case studies, simulations, learning videos, reading materials, online testing and feedback. There will be 5 contact hours per week, split into two 2 hour workshops and a 1 hour lecture.
Examination and assessment - On campus students will be assessed in a number of ways throughout the duration of the programme. Assessment methods include assignments, presentations and examinations.
Study materials and online support - Students will receive their core textbooks free of charge. All De Broc programmes are supported by our Virtual Learning Environment, Elite. Elite will be your first point of call for academic information. In addition, you will gain access to our online library facilities, and learning resources from the Chartered Management Institute, the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Financial Times. These resources provide a range of professional and business-focused materials that represent up to date market trends, sector-based articles and analysis reports.

In addition to lectures and workshops for each module, students will benefit from interactive activities, group work and business tasks with a practical focus. Throughout the entire duration of the course, you will be supported by academic staff.

The programme involves a considerable amount of group work and group assessment that will take place online, and up to 25% of the assessment takes this form. The assessments are designed to meet the learning outcomes both academically and professionally. This involves seminars, workshops, tests, presentations, assignments, and exams.
On campus study
Learning inside the classroom and beyond, the MSc in International Marketing has a real-world focus, preparing you for the dynamic business environment you will face after your graduation. Traditional lectures and workshops are combined with a wealth of online resources to ensure that you get the most out of the programme. You will benefit from access to case studies, online testing, video content, and more. You will also receive all core textbooks free of charge and will be supported by our Virtual Learning Environment, Elite.
All of your learning will take place on the Canvas platform, delivered by our online learning partner, InterActive. Each unit you study consists of an introduction, video clips, extended reading, discussion questions, as well as a summary and consolidation.
You will be assessed in a variety of formats, including portfolio and instant feedback tasks, self-assessed quizzes, as well as through your participation in VoiceThread presentations and questions paired with TED-Ed lessons. There is also a considerable amount of online group work and presentations that will count towards your overall grade.
As an online student, you will benefit from a range of innovative e-learning media that suits all learning types. You’ll receive the same quality tuition as our on-campus students, but with all the benefits of online flexibility.
Online students will study for one year, which is divided into two semesters and the summer period for the dissertation. Students will study four modules, each worth 30 credits, and another module worth 60 credits, totalling 180 credits.

- Business Analysis and Decision Making (30 credits)

International Marketing Leadership
This module will equip you with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to research, understand and develop effective international marketing strategies relating to an organisation’s corporate and business strategic intent. This module responds to the need for managers to gain an international competitive advantage for their organisations through strategies and mechanisms by predicting future trends and emerging themes. With focus on and insight into international marketing leadership and planning concepts, you will learn how these are applied to ensure results are delivered.
Managing Organisational Reputation
This module will teach you how organisations develop their identities in order to develop effective high level international competitive marketing strategies. With a focus on developing effective corporate communication strategies, you will refine the skills necessary to adapt to future strategic international corporate reputation.
Business Analysis and Decision Making
This module covers strategic audits, which help prioritise the key issues, opportunities and risks facing an organisation in terms of meeting future objectives. You will learn about the application of a range of financial and risk models that support the assessment of an organisation’s vision, mission and strategic marketing objective.
International Emerging Themes
International marketing is a key driver of success in today’s dynamic international organisations. This module will give you an insight into international emerging marketing concepts and tools, and how these are applied to deliver results. The focus is gaining an understanding of marketing from a micro and macro perspective. A distinctive feature is the focus and insight into international marketing concepts and tools and how these are applied to deliver results. Students will be able to build and refine the skills necessary to anticipate and adapt to future international environment changes. The aim of the module is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to research, understand and interpret changing marketing environment and its impact on organisations.
Research Methods, Professional Development and Dissertation/Project
Here, you will critically evaluate a business issue of your choice. The module will equip you with the necessary tools for researching within a professional environment, and provides you with an opportunity to diagnose and investigate a complex business issue.
The MSc in International Marketing can boost your career, not just in international marketing, but in a number of areas, including business and digital communications. The knowledge and skillset you will acquire offers the potential to progress to management level with ease.
Students who graduate from this degree often consider the following options if they wish to continue their studies:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Chartered Management Institute’s (CMI) postgraduate qualifications
- Chartered Institute of Marketing’s (CIM) postgraduate qualifications
- 2:2 or above from a UK Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualifications.
- International requirements - an English language level equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or above with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

In September 2018, we are offering a pre-sessional English course to students who need to improve their English skills in order to meet the IELTS requirements for entry onto our full time postgraduate courses.
Students will have the opportunity to improve their English language skills in a supportive learning environment whilst developing their academic study skills in the areas of writing academic assignments, preparing examinations, giving presentations and participating in seminars and reading research articles.
All pre-sessional English courses will be offered on a full time basis through a seven or twelve week programme at our London Bloomsbury campus. Students will be able to meet their future course leaders and be introduced to the facilities and resources specific to their main degree programmes as well as develop their understanding of University systems, services and facilities.
